An automatic transmission is a multi-geared transmission that does not require any input from the driver to automatically gears when moving forward. Maintenance is required for these units to last, Automotive car manufacturers did a great dis-service to car buyers by telling them that these units are maintenance free. As with any parts that’s moving it has wear. These wear particles get caught in the filters. Problem is these filters have by-pass for when the filters are full. Once they are full these wear particles circulate through the transmission, wearing bushings faster and making issues much worse. When a simple filter and fluid change would eliminate this problem.
