CVT Transmissions

CVTs can be expensive to repair. When a small issue is ignored it can tear up these transmissions. The expense is in the replacement of the drive and driven pulley as well as the belt. If you catch the issue early and an overhaul does not require the replacement of either pulley or belt, the cost saving is substantial. These transmission are one of the cheapest to manufacturer which is why we are seeing more and more of these in vehicles. Some of the common problems that owners complain about are overheating, slipping, sudden loss of acceleration, and shuddering. Soon as you detect an issue stop driving it and have it towed to us. Doing so could help you save thousands of dollars.

In this video you can see a cvt transmission in action. The pulley on the right is the drive pulley and is coupled to the engine. In the beginning of the video you can see the “engine” side spinning like you being stopped at a stop light. The engine is spinning as you accelerate you will see the driven pulley catch and that would move the vehicle. As the engine speeds up you can see the belt on the drive side rise up which increase the rpm thus causing the driven pulley to also rise up which will allow the vehicles speed to increase.
